Hemorrhoid Symptoms And Relief

A hemorrhoid is actually a form of a vericose vein. and is a swollen blood vessel in or around the anus or lower rectum.

External hemorrhoids, like its name sake, means that the hemorrhoid is located outside the anus. It is not until an internal hemorrhoid is thrombosed, infected, or when there has been erosion of the mucosal surface that pain is a feature.

An internal hemorrhoid is when the hemorrhoid is formed inside the rectum. Tiny veins surrounding the rectum become inflamed and a hemorrhoid is born and is covered with the mucous membrane lining of the rectum. This type of hemorrhoid is more prone to bleeding however it can lead to more severe forms of hemorrhoid called prolapsed and strangulated.

Accurately classifying a patient's symptoms and the relation of the symptoms to internal and external hemorrhoids is important.

Not every one with hemorrhoids will experience symptoms. Symptoms such as an anal fissure, a thin slit-like tear in the anal tissue, this is likely to cause itching, pain, and bleeding during a bowel movement. The more obvious symptoms would be some blood on toilet paper or in the toilet bowl after bowel movement.

Almost always, a painful hemorrhoid is one that has prolapsed out of the anus. If the internal hemorrhoid pushes out of the anal opening, then this hemorrhoid is known a prolapsed hemorrhoid.

Less commonly used treatments are cryotherapy in which the hemorrhoid is essentially frozen off, or laser therapy, in which the hemorrhoid is burned off.

Once the hemorrhoid is removed, the surgical site is sutured closed, and will now be well on the way to recovery, but you may still be sore for a few days afterwards. After this procedure it is advised that you take extra personal hygiene care for a few days until the discomfort has completely gone.
